Traveler, there is no path.
The path is made by walking.
– Antonio Machado, poet
We are all walking uncharted journeys and finding our way as we go. Over the past year and a half, we at Lutherhaven Ministries have shifted as needed, often taking one tentative step at a time, doing our very best to listen, learn as we go, and discern what right paths we are to take during the Time of Covid. I know certain of our steps have disappointed some, angered others, and yet have been resoundingly cheered by most. Truly, we appreciate that encouragement.
All along, Lutherhaven Ministries has been committed to the health and safety of everyone in our local, regional, and national camp “family.” We’re convinced it is our Biblical, moral, and legal obligation to take all necessary precautions to protect those around us—especially the most vulnerable.
Given the current trajectory of the Covid virus in North Idaho, as well as new restrictions and mandates put in place in the neighboring states and communities we serve, it is our conviction that it is not quite time for us to return to large, in person gatherings at camp.
We are therefore, regretfully, setting aside for now Lutherhaven Ministries’ 75 Anniversary celebration, scheduled for September 25, along with several traditional fall and early winter camp retreats.
Alternatively, knowing your camps remain a haven and home for so very many, we are making plans and collecting stories from the heart of Lutherhaven, so that each of us might gather before year’s end in the warmth of our own homes, to celebrate 75 years of Lutherhaven. To God be the glory!
Thank you for traveling with us, as we continue to make our path as we go…and walk down it together.
I’ll take the hand of those who don’t know the way,
who can’t see where they’re going.
I’ll be a personal guide to them,
directing them through unknown country.
I’ll be right there to show them what paths to take.
