Lutherhaven's second new well--drilled to 340-feet the first week of December--is pumping out 10 gallons a minute of good, clear water. Add that to the 5 gpm pouring from our first (September) dig, and we look to be in good shape for an adequate water supply...if the two wells combined hold steady. Read more>>

...three years in legislation, two Presidential signatures and half a decade of fundraising, papers were signed on December 18, 2009 to complete the sale of Shoshone Base Camp to Lutherhaven Ministries!

 

Shoshone Base Camp was purchased by Lutherhaven Ministries from the U.S. Forest Service, Idaho Panhandle National Forests through a special Act of Congress.

Nearly 3/4 million in donations have come in from donors across the country to completely fund the sale!

Murdock Trust funds 4 interns

The M.J. Murdock Trust of Vancouver, Washington recently awarded Lutherhaven nearly $50,000 to fund four interns over two years.

 

The 10-month internships continue the program started at Lutherhaven in 2007 under the Trust's Vision & Call Internship Initiative.

 

The most recent grant funds internships beginning fall, 2010 through spring, 2012.

Camp Wedding in new chapel!

Lauren Frerichs, outdoor education manager at Lutherhaven, and Daniel Baker, Lutherhaven intern, were married on December 12 in the new Zoerb Chapel at camp. About 175 people from across the country attended.

We've got worms!

Thirty pounds of worms turn Lutherhaven's kitchen scraps into rich garden compost, thanks to a new system that routes 25 or more pounds a day of "garbage" into our "Worm Wigwam."

The teachable moment kids and adults alike: a quarter of everything we throw away is compostable and doesn't have to be tossed out. Find out more>>

  

 

Zoerb Chapel dedicated

Lutherhaven's Zoerb Chapel was dedicated on June 7 with more than 325 camp friends attending.

 

 

Joining the celebration was special guest Pearl Zoerb, 101 years-young, long-time summer volunteer at Lutherhaven in the 70's and 80's and to whom, along with her late husband, Pastor Ernie Zoerb, the Lutherhaven Chapel is dedicated.
