For 80 years—since 1946—countless thousands have joined you in this very spot, traveling to Camp Lutherhaven from across the region, around the nation, even across the globe to this place that’s More than a Place, a year-round Christian retreat that welcomes all into faith-filled mission, joy-filled play, and God-created beauty.
More than a Place recounts eight decades of stories of early visionaries, hardworking staff, countless volunteers, campers of every age, and passionate national leaders in outdoor ministry. Hear tales of faith-filled service; of deconstructing historic cabins and transporting them down rivers and up lakes; of flying coyotes and green bean cakes; of random newspaper articles and Acts of Congress and dreams of kids catching frogs along the creek; of million dollar triumphs and profoundly tragic losses; of the servant-hearted—people of God each one—coming together to create spaces and places for Christ-centered respite, renewal, relationships, and growth.
