We've Got Worms!!
New composting system at Lutherhaven turns kitchen scraps to dirt
Twenty pounds (and growing!) of red wriggler composting worms turn all of Lutherhaven's kitchen scraps into rich garden compost, thanks to a new system that routes 25 or more pounds a day of "garbage" into our new "Worm Wigwam" or garden compost piles. The teachable moment for school kids, campers and guests: a quarter of everything that goes into our landfills is compostable and doesn't have to be tossed out. The worm composting setup at camp speeds up the process, turning vegetable, bread, pasta and fruit scraps into compost in as little as two weeks. The compost then goes into Lutherhaven's new vegetable garden, tended by campers and staff, that grows fresh veggies for the kitchen. Lettuce, snap peas, green beans, cukes, summer squash, raspberries, beets, onions, and radishes are all coming on strong in the new garden. Thanks to the Coeur d'Alene Basin Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for their generous grant to help our garden grow!

We're over the top!!
More than a quarter million in donations come in from across the country!
Many, many thanks to the hundreds of individuals, churches, and organizations that contributed toward the Shoshone purchase! Without a doubt, each and every one of our supporters are key to making Lutherhaven Ministries the vital organization it is today! We thank God for you!
Murdock awards $300,000 Shoshone grant
The Trustees of the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust of Vancouver, Washington just granted Lutherhaven Ministries' $300,000 for the once-in-forever opportunity to purchase Shoshone Base Camp from the U.S. Forest Service!
You may still donate to this awesome endeavor, as together we prepare Shoshone for generations of campers to come!

Zoerb Chapel Dedicated
Lutherhaven's Zoerb Chapel was dedicated on June 7 with more than 325 camp friends attending.
Guests included summer camp counselors from as far back as the 1960’s alongside 60-some newly commissioned 2009 summer staffers; former Directors Ken Moore (1960’s), Bob Newcomb (1970’s), and Karl Petzke (1990’s), (with regrets from Margie Fiedler —1980’s—who had to be in Montana); Bishop Martin Wells from the Eastern Washington-Idaho Synod; Terry Stokesbary from the M.J. Murdock Trust; partners from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans; dozens and dozens of donors, volunteers, campers, friends of camp…
…and special guest Pearl Zoerb, 101½ years-young, long-time summer volunteer at Lutherhaven in the 70's and 80's and to whom, along with her late husband, Pastor Ernie Zoerb, the Lutherhaven Chapel is dedicated.
We have so much to be thankful for: God’s loving hand at work at Lutherhaven Ministries is clearly evident through awesome locations, expanding programs, remarkable facilities, dedicated servants, and changed lives.
Thanks...
...to the Neumann Family Partnership for their $50,000 Challenge Grant, to the M.J. Murdock Trust for a $150,000 gift, to Kiwanis of Coeur d'Alene for a $5,000 grant for Chapel A/V equipment and to the Northern Rockies Region of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for a $5,000 grant for furnishings; and to the literally hundreds of individuals and congregations who sacrificially gave gifts small and large to bring this fantastic project to completion!
